A pair of Sumatran tiger cubs and a set of young orang-utans, all abandoned at birth, have become inseparable after sharing a room at an Indonesian zoo.

Terry Pratchett did a splendid programme in Borneo about orang-utans. At one stage he had been led into the jungle to watch a dominant male coming down to get some fruit they'd left for him.

Some cracking lines, like

"All the guides suddenly practiced the art of nonchalantly walking backwards."

"He looks at you and you know he has only 3 things on his mind - and you don't figure in any of them"

A full-size male is formidable - 5 ft tall, about 4 foot wide, and 300lbs of bone and muscle. I don't know that it could beat off a tiger, but I suspect that a tiger would stay away unless it was ABSOLUTELY sure that he could be brought down without fighting back.

very good picture.

I too doubt a tiger would take on an orang-utan, it would just pick up a stick and start beating the sh$t out the cat

They'll be best of friends anyway, my sisters cat sleeps with the dogs.
