As I have just been notified of an increase in my package going up a pound to £22 I thought this is the time to cancel.
Phoned them up and they are installing foc Sky plus to keep me on.
Result......Thanks Sky
hmm been thinking about trying that one my self as the old box has started turning itself of every now and again
We used to hav an employee who used to phone up to cancell SKY every six months and they would always offer her another deal to keep her on
Just worked for me too, Sky+ and phone for an extra £2 a month....
Slightly off topic but...
The multi-room thing on sky, where you can get extra cards for £5/month each. Sky stop you giving the card to a mate by making the boxes dial up, and
checking that they both call from the same caller ID.
However, if you had a VoIP to regular phone adaptor that support T.38 'fax bypass' protocol on each box, hooked up to the same SIP account,
would the boxes be able to dial up through it? Therefore both showing the same caller ID?
Disclaimer: Obviously I'm not condoning this, just asking if anyone thinks it's possible?
Chris
What would that question be in English?
In simple terms....
"Could you fool two Sky boxes to think they were in the same house, when actually they were miles apart, and therefore share the bill with a
mate/mates"
One of these days I'll fire up my old VoIP router and see if the box can dial out using it. If it can, the rest should be easy.
Chris
i was told the same thing about ringing to cancel and them throwing stuff at you, so i called and cancelled sports and movies and HD, and they just
said ok mr smith that will be sorted within 24hours
NOT THE RESPONSE I WAS EXPECTING
so now i got no sports and no movies and no HD
So you got an HD box thats not showing HD anymore?? Did you pay £399 for the box?
Thats not good.
no they had some offer on when it first came out with a new 42" tv so the box was free

never plug my sky into the phone line ! infact I had an in-contact bt line (£10 a quarter) when it was installed and that does'nt call out except 999
The being showered with special deals if you threaten to leave doesn't happen as much as it used to. Different industry but when I renewed my car
insurance a couple of months ago I phoned my insurer up - who I'd been with for 4 years, never claimed for anything etc etc - and said that
I'd got a cheaper quote....."Ok sir, I'll cancel the renewal on your policy" was the reply....... she didn't even ask how
much the cheaper quote was never mind try to match/beat it!
Regarding Virgin, we phoned them up to cancel movies and sport as we never watch them - ok, we'll cancel those straight away they said (and did -
almost instantly!) then without telling us billed us £100 for the second (ancient) box we've got in the bedroom as apparently the computer now
saw it as a 'new service' - and we even got a letter telling us to be in on a certain date so a man could come round and fit it!
these seem very popular with virgin cable users

Same with me rang to cancel after being a customer for donkeys years hoping they would do a deal, no chance.
Like most company's these days being a long time loyal customer means diddly, its the new customers they want.
Cheers,
Bob
