I'm on page 2 and he has just deepened his original hole - will he ever give up?? I shall read on!!

Fatgadget - 15/7/08 at 03:03 PM

The guy is thinking outside the box and more power to his elbow. Just because something is designed to work one specific way it is therefore sacrosanct to to turn the concept upside down?

Remember, once upon a time you were considered a heretic if you diputed the world was flat...

I think this maroon is pitching to be the next American Presidential candidate he seems to have all the right stupidity credentials.
Cheers,

No you didn't. The flat earth theory was only ever believed by cranks (even in the middle ages).
The popularisation of the myth was a fictional account of Columbus' life by Washington Irving in 1828.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth_mythology for more details.

On the subject of reversing engines I'm sure I've read about some canal boat engines that actually do reverse like that.

Come one guys the original post was a tease! The responses are fun though....

r1_pete - 15/7/08 at 07:50 PM

The guy I share an office with couldn't see the funny side, he'd always wondered how the engine stopped and started turning backwards when he engaged reverse.

Only just managed to dry my eyes enough to be able to type this......

I did the same, showed the bloke in my office and he kind of nodded but I knew he didn't get it - then again he does drive an MX5

Got me thinking though, doesn't the Honda Goldwing run the engine backwards to reverse,
albeit just using the cranking power of the starter motor.

Or have I just let myself open to as much ridicule as "Krispy"

liam.mccaffrey - 15/7/08 at 09:32 PM
