Are we entirely surprised?

RANT WARNING

I got my auction pulled yesterday because I put - CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY in the advert. Which is against their paypal money laundering rules.

Needless to say I sent the SNOTTIEST email I could - not that it will have any affect.

Someone needs to develop a viable alternative, they would get flooded with new business (the existing ones aren't really competition)

Glad there profits are down, I look forward to them going to the wall when a worthy successor with morals and ideals like ebay used to have arrives on the scene.

Markets can only expand so far. Once everybody who is likely to use ebay is using it then finding new customers becomes increasingly difficult

There's also the problem with people getting frightened of paypal disputes. I buy stuff on ebay but it would not occur to me to sell stuff on it, except by classified advert and collection/cash

I like the paragraph

The US firm is also battling against trust problems among its users.

I wonder why, when they have imposed their payment (ok money laundering) terms on everyone, doing nothing about fraudsters, always backing the buyer - see Jon Ison's thread....

If their sales do fall hopefully the charges will follow

Yeah! Lets all boycot ebay!

I still owe them money for my auction that lost me £116 when I was conned by a buyer.

Not paying back ebay or paypal in the foreseeable future!
