More TV set-up recommendations needed

I've got a very non-techie friend who wants to record tv programmes as easily as possible, but not on VHS anymore.

She likes the idea of doing it to HDD, but would rather not pay a subscription (so Sky+ is out).

Doesn't watch much TV and doesn't use freeview or anything else, just the 5 basic channels.

So what's a good option for her?

Humax 9200 box is very good! Freeview and PVR in the same box. They're about £150 if I remember right.

I very much doubt you'll get a PVR without Freeview built in these days.

EDIT: got number wrong!

yeah I've had a shot of these kind of things, well impressed at being able to wind back the live tv programs. Noticed though that a lot of channels were available only after paying extra.

PVR is the way to go. As Chris says you're very unlikely to find a non-freeview one, but then all you suffer is a load of free extra channels (largely rubbish mind). If you want to archive films off on to DVD then get a PVR/DVD recorder combo - Panasonic/Sony etc. Easy set-up, digital ready etc.
