DVD players in cars
DarrenW - 26/7/08 at 08:50 PM

Summer is coming. We are taking car on holidays. have DVD players and twin screens. Should be jolly and nice. Never is. Kids seem to do all in there powers to wreck it.

Anyway, got me thinking again about installing permanently in the car. Has anyone fitted screens to their headrests? Is it easy to do? I like the idea of making the screens look factory fit but able to cover and hide them easily when parked up.

Not sure how to fit the player, kids have smashed cover off it already. Still plays just but i cant stop them kicking it etc.

What car? Could be worth buying a couple of headrests from the scrappy to have a look?

Its a BMW E46 tourer. Sept 2002 (Facelift 320D)

Just wondering if its simply case of cuttng existing headrests up and running cables through seat back. Probs should be but not sure how to make factory looking on a locost budget.

I would also rather install a hard drive based syetem in boot to run the tunes and vids but no idea how to nake it link to std head unit and steering wheel controls.

player in the boot, or glove box?

Put the kids in the boot , that will stop them kicking the DVD.
