Didn't he know that the UK is just another american state ...... i wonder if it was the other way round would they hand some one over .........

"Mr McKinnon was accused of crashing the US Army’s Washington network of 2,000 computers for 24 hours, causing a significant disruption to
Government functions.
US prosecutors also claim that he completely shut down and rendered unusable 300 computers at a US Navy weapons station"
uh hu and no one in the military is getting their ass kicked over such a vulnerable set up. The fools should be offering the guy a job in their IT
department.

Just what did he think was likely to happen if he ever got caught, after hacking a major part of the US military computer network?
He ought to think himself lucky that he hasn't met with an 'accident'...
It's the fact that:
"His lawyers told the Law Lords that he had been offered a “plea-bargain” by which, if he pleaded guilty, he would only serve a short sentence
of three to four years, probably at the lower end, and that after six to 12 months he would be returned to serve the rest of his sentence in the
UK."
Pisses me off, surely if he is guilty then he should do XXX months/years etc and if he pleads not guilty and is found guilty then it should be the
same.
It forces people into considering the easy way when some should stick to their guns.
I know I, for one, would not go against an american forces board of laywers in america and plead not guilty knowing the way it works...
Steve
Methinks that if he's guilty - then he has to get what's coming to him.
The argument over whether there's reciprocal agreements in place for US citizens to be extradited to the UK is a separate issue.

We should get more criminals tried in the states then we would not need so many prisons.
I see what you're saying about the hypocrisy of the 'system' in terms of the reciprocity issue... but I'm a 'hang em
high' type and want to see him (if he's guilty) getting hammered!
Just as I want to see all criminals getting hammered!
Time to take back the streets brothers and sisters!
plea bargaining winds me up, mate of mine went up for dangerous driving (int eh police opinion) he always maintained he wasnt guilty.
so, does one go to court, plead a case, hope to get off seeing as one didnt do anything, but risk getting a conviction for DD, or does one accept the
prosecutions offer of a reduced sentence for a timely plea to careless driving?
bottom line is you hope they dont have enough to prove dangerous driving, but you know that all coppers are bent enough you aint getting off scott
free, so youre gonna get careless either way, so it makes sense to take the lesser sentence prior to court.
Goes against principles to plead guilty to something you dont believe you have done just because the prosecution are bullies

Americans are paranoid right now. Just try crossing their border. Everyone is suspect.
