lots of shiney stuff
rebelrider - 3/8/08 at 09:00 PM

I've been toying with the idea of starting my own business for a while.
I have made a few mascots, inlet manifolds, grills, and brackets for mates and people on here.
What else would people be interested in?
Im just trying to gauge the interest and see if it is worth doing.
I can laser cut
1 - 15mm stainless
1 - 10mm aluminium
1 - 25mm mild steel
and up to 30mm+ wood/plastic
and have welding and brake pressing certificates.
So what would people want ? if anything

I think paddle shift paddles would be ideal

as above.

Handbrake and gear lever surrounds would be good - probably best out of 3mm brushed ally with nice countersunk holes for stainless bolts.

As before - Paddle shifts, but in different styles.

I got my father in law to bend up my side pannels in 1.2mm ally on a press brake machine then i just trimmed them to fit.

He also wire cut me out a handbrake gaiter surround from 10mm ally.

Im sure the ally side pannel blanks would be well received. even moreso as you could do a run if you got accurate measurements for different chassis, so you could do 10 sets of MK, 10 sets of gts, 10 sets of mnr etc etc

As nstrug, I have money waiting for a decent handbrake surround and other trim parts for my car.

heat shields?

i need a set for in the engine. once you had the manifold pattern for a few engines they could be personalised quite easily.

I think if you start your own buisness you will need to sell outside the kitcar world as well to make ends meet? Shop signs seem a good idea..

Few ideas:

House Name plates
House Numbers

A decent rear boot, with lockable lid to fit cars with roll bars - sva friendly of course.

Custom car badges - chavy corsa, nova, focus type ones - not really very nice, but main steam enough to make you some cash - and plenty of forums to flog them on.

can't think of any more right now.

well, handbrake surrounds and paddle shifts sound like a winner.
Guinea pigs needed for designs i guess most people use the standard sierra handbrake ?
are the paddle shifts the same size ish ?
could be some cheap buys in it for helper outterers.
