I need some info on setting up the brakes on a trailer I am building.

Has anyone some instructions or diagrams which can help me out please. The coupling is Bradley and brake units are Knott.

thanks

Is your trailer 2 or 4 wheels?

2 wheel

2 wheels make the brake arrangement simpler.
You should have 2 cables and a balance bar supplied with the braked suspension units.
The one end of each cable goes into the connection point on the backplate of each brake. The other end of the cable needs to terminate in a slotted hole on a bracket attached to a chasis cross member. The slot is for the inner cable to pass through. The ends of the inner cables are attached to the pivots on the balance bar. The centre pivot point of the
balance bar is joined to the brake connection point on the towing hitch with a length of 10mm dia. steel rod threaded at both ends. The balance bar end needs to hace enough thread length to adjust the system.

I need to purchase the bracket with the slotted holes to weld on my chassis, balance bar and the 10mm dia rod.

So if i understood this good, I will end up with the rod next to the coupling. How does it fix itself to the coupling ?

Also what was strange for me is that on the inner wall on one of the brake unit(right). I have a bracket with 2 slotted holes welded directly on the brake unit.

If you aren't already aware of them go to www.indespension.co.uk for a full range of parts & accessories. Cheers, Pewe

The slotted bracket is only tacked to the suspension unit (so it does not get lost) - break it off and weld it to your chassis!

At the bottom of the handbrake lever there is a clevis with a captive M10 nut on my trailer. This is the brake connection point.
