Urgent - where can I buy a medium sized tension spring tomorrow?
cloudy - 19/8/08 at 09:08 PM

I'm looking for a tension spring like this with hooks or eyes either end to tether, about 10-15cm in length, and of suffecient strength to be very diffiult to pull apart by hand - and I need it tomorrow!

Any idea's where I might find something - or what sort of product it might be sold as - tried gate springs but they are designed to twist...

screwfix have a spring box you can buy - but they're not that strong. maybe one or two together may help.

Trampoline spring?
Length is about right and they are pretty hard to extend. Diameter might be an issue 20-25mm. Maybe a sports shop could help.

Drumbrake springs are almost ideal!!!!

Your scrappy should have loads!

Rear brake springs or window wiper arm spring. Some of them are pretty long and bloody strong.

Z-bed springs. Go to a random junk shop and they usually have some. Or those metal-framed sofa beds.

look under a 740/940 bonnet the springs holding them up would need geff capes to pull them apart !! , and theyre about 150mm long .

sorry to be cheeky, but from the title it sounded a similar question to the master shouting his apprentice to fetch him a long weight

Apologies - didn't mean it to sound like that! It's a project we have to deliver tomorrow
