Transit van based locost
mangogrooveworkshop - 11/9/08 at 07:16 PM

Art director Gordon Grant, from Glasgow, spent 10 years transforming a transit van into a replica of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car to raise funds for Cancer research. It is 40 years since the children's classic film was released. Photo by Steve Parsons, Press Association.

Built by Alan Man Racing -- who also the GT40 with a transit body for Ford.

hmm don't know about transforming a transit van, looks like a new chassis & body, I'd imagine just the bare running gear was used. quite cool though

yeah... can't see any transit in there

britishtrident - 12/9/08 at 08:21 AM

The Original was Transit Mk1 right down to the Essex V4 engine --- not sure what transmission was used might have been a 2000e or B-W 35 Auto to make it easy for Dick van Dyke.
