Driving Days
mistergrumpy - 11/9/08 at 08:20 PM

Got one of them driving days for my birthday. Got the choice of 3 Sisters, Rockingham or Donnington. Probably go to 3 Sisters as its only around the corner. Got the choice of 4 cars though:
Ferrari 360 Modena for 6 miles
Porsche 911 Turbo for 6 miles
Lotus Elise for 12 miles
Single seater for 20 minutes

I'm inclined to go for the Ferrari as I don't think I'll ever get to drive one again and the whole prestige thing whereas a Lotus I could certainly get my hands on, a 911 well possibly, theres plenty of the sh1tbags drive them around in Manchester and a single seater, well I could build one and I dare say if I was to provide enough surety in the form of money to someone through the kit car scene someone might let me have a bash at theirs.
What do we think? What would be your choice?

Ferrari - Locost will give you what the other will.

would deffo go ferrari myself, BUT

3 sisters is a very small/short circuit which means more laps, but less space to open it up!!!!

Yes, similar reasons I'd go Ferrari, though spinning someone elses Porch would be cool.
I think I'd go for Donnington for prestige value too, then you can re-drive it when you see it on the telly

Plus it might be the last time on the "old track"

I'm doing an afternoon at Croft next week (company paid!).

Chose the Ferrari one, because, unless I'm mega lucky at work over the next few years, I'm not going to be in a position to drive one.

# Signing On - Safety Briefing - Introduction to Instructor
# 3 laps – Mazda MPS - circuit familiarisation – Instructor Drives
# 3 laps – Porsche Cayman – Client Drives
# 4 laps – Ferrari F355 – Client Drives
# 5 laps – Ginetta G20 – Client Drives
# 1 lap - High Speed Passenger Ride – Instructor drive
# The course ends with a debrief before your departure.

Will let you know how I get on.

Having driven 911's and Ferrari's (my mates 355 F1) on track i'd go for the single seater for 20 mins!! 6 miles on the above tracks will take you about 5 mins - maybe 6 mins in Wigan!!!!

My 173bhp Zetec Tiger was taking lots of time out of the Ferrari around Donnington, and even after half an hour hammering my mate's car i wasnt as quick as i could do in the Tiger. Our little kit cars put these so called supercars to shame a lot of the time!!

I did a driving day in a FF1600 and i couldnt believe the grip in the corners - even on standard road tyres!!

Has to be 20 mins in a single seater round Donnington for both fun and value for money 3 Sisters (which is literally just round the corner from me!) in a Ferrari...... hmmm doubt you'd get it into 4th gear for more than a couple of seconds each lap tbh and 6 miles would be over in a flash as well!

Do the Ferrari. That will put a locost into perspective as to just how fast they are / can be.

mike - ive had a ride in the Croft ginetta - rather good i have to say. You will love that day.
Any jobs going at your place?
