"mitigating circumstances" - hmmmmmm..... wonder what they could be??????

and to quote the judge again
"clearly this should be marked by a prison sentence"
and then promptly suspended it!!! From the article (which admittedly will never give all the details) it seems that the excuse was he'd lost his
family and job and stands a crushed man!!
Just seems to me that he was a police officer at the time of downloading, and so should know better than anyone that what he was doing was a serious
crime. I'd love to know why he wasnt jailed!!
Makes you wonder how many other paedophiles dont go to prison really!!

You're right Paul. I agree. He should be nailed by his balls to the back of a cell. I too would like to know why he wasn't jailed.
I think incidents like this just compound the general distrust and dislike towards the police these days.
Another case of the judges not doing their job.
What also winds me up though is the bleeding media coverage of things like this. I can tell you that you don't get preferential treatment being
in the police through experience. I've seen various dismissals, officers receiving points on their license for offences just the same as everyone
else and all rightly so, their is no immunity but the sodding media just pick and choose and put their greasy slant on everything just to stir people
up and cause negative reactions.
I believe that they should be clamped down on
Reminds me of that fellow from one of the James Bond films with the glasses who was trying to take
over the world with his media influence.
Oh I do hate hearing of such people, can't we just quietly ship them somewhere distant, like the moon. Honestly the more they are in the news I
just suspect it encourages far more to get interested in such things, i.e. oh I just looked out of curiosity... well how did they hear about it in the
first place then? FFS its just making things worse!
What’s even worse is you can’t even go near a kid these days, especially blokes without fear of what people may think. How many of you would not be
terrified if a kid came up to you asked you to tie their laces for them! It’s just awful this barrier has descended between adults and kids fuelled by
the media over a tiny minority of weirdo’s.
