just had cambelt changed on van
is it possible to put belt on just wrong
as it starts and runs fine
but not sure it sounds quite right
( might just be me being parinoid )
and when i turn off the engine seems to do one last shake
(not running on just one last beat)
The retention pulley has come loose and let it jump a few teeth on the belt........same van had same s***t cause the dealer wanted to save 15 quid on deal.
some hdi engines had a peg that locks the cam then a bolt loosen the cam pulley to tension the belt with the crank and cam locked. if you just tippex
the pulleys and change the belt then you can be out but not enough to stop the engine running
a tooth out and the check light will come on and will
show a cam sensor fault as the crank and cam sensors will show out of phase. if the tensioner and idler arent changed they normally last another
20-30k before falling apart and smashing all the rockers to bits.
i look after a lot of taxi,s and have done just a belt change for tightarse drivers and had them ome back 20k later with a collapsed tensioner
pulley
thanks froggy
so if they got it wrong a light should be showing
it seemed to start alright today no lights
so hopfully alls ok
