Van -> Car

Hi guys,

A mate of mine is looking for a small van, pug partner / transit connect kind of size.

Are there any vans out there that you can convert to have rear seats in?

He wants to use it for swork in the week but would like to be able to put more than 2 people in it come a weekend if need be.

Some of the NEW vans may have this functoionality but he is looking around the £3k mark so it limits the newness of his purchase.
Cheers

IMHO....he would be better getting a car and converting it to a van for weekends...

Something like an old espace...Or VW transporter

vauxhall astra estate maybe?strictly not a van, but sure the back (boot area) windows can be fully blacked out if need be.
hired a new astra van a few weeks back (08 reg) and the back window was blacked out (not tinted, just black)

Be very careful to check the insurance small print.

A guy crashed into me driving a van and he thought he was covered by his insurance but they turned around and showed him the fingers.

Not quite sure of his details, but when he hit me he gave me his details and accepted all the blame then later his insurance company left him high & dry saying his policy did not cover a commercial vehicle.

He was only using it a a runabout to get to work & back during the week saving his other car for best.

Might not be the size he wants but Vauxhall's Zafira is a pretty good compromise, plenty of room with the seats foreward, 2 more spare seats flat in the floor. I use one and it's a cheap work vehicle and 2nd car too. Cheap to buy and cheap to run.
