I've had an MOT on my tintop today so been busy sorting a couple of bits for a retest tomorrow. Rules have changed havent they - free retest within 24hrs but charged after that!!

ravingfool - 24/9/08 at 02:56 PM

Get back to work!

Or at least post something interesting... I'm soooo bored.

tegwin - 24/9/08 at 02:57 PM

WHAT....

Im sure its still free retest within a week around here...

Sounds like your MOT station are being scummy!

Thats just your mot place being penny tight!

tomgregory2000 - 24/9/08 at 03:14 PM

my mot place charge if you take the car home and do the work yourself, even same day

fesycresy - 24/9/08 at 03:17 PM

Seems like a few of the old faces have moved onto pastures new.

Only talking about this the other evening.........

Agriv8 - 24/9/08 at 03:38 PM

Oh come on whippy where is your backbone. Start an argument with some borderline subject thats bound to get averyone chuntering, thats what used to happen ...... ... 'Calling Calvinx' .............. 'Calling Calvinx' ........... "Where are you CALVINX ?"

Sorry typing this or reading the manual on a Cisco Firewall that I realy need to understand MMmMmmmmm --- Oh gawd might just have to go and lock some user account out so I feel needed !!!!

Just seen a couple of tumble-weeds blowing through my office!!!

Most exciting thing that has happened all day

davie h - 24/9/08 at 04:06 PM

I've been out and about all day with the kids ikea for breakfast then onto metal supermarket at Ibrox (very nice guys and very helpful) then visit my old garage and blag a free engine crane from a guy i used to work with. then just trying to keep a 4 year old and a 8 month old happy for the rest of the day until the wife gets in. although my oldest was quite impressed at metal supermarket when the guy used the big saw

davidinhull - 24/9/08 at 04:18 PM

too busy working earning a living to pay for the car
oh and messing about on facebook but got bored of that so have returned here

minitici - 24/9/08 at 04:51 PM

Looks like it was a day to visit Metal Supermarkets - I went to the one at Pumpherston for a few bits of bar for the lathe.
Then I went to see AndyW7de at Waterjet Scotland and saw him cut out my pair of chain drive differential support plates in about 1 minute flat

I did think you had 10 working days myself but having done some checking they are indeed 100% correct. This is confirmed on the VOSA website. Its free if you leave the car there and let them do the work but not if you take it home. Changed 2 years ago now apparently.

linky thing

That's what I experienced just recently - 10 working days. My garage failed KC two weeks ago on rear brakes (good call, KC didn't have any) and I was allowed to take the car elsewhere and have it repaired and the return again within the 10 days for my free retest.

It does actually state the new rule on the MOT failure sheet too but I didn't point that out to my garage when I noticed...
