I'd vote for the BRM as well...

As for the most evil engine noise, I'd vote for the Mercedes-Benz SSK from around 1930. It's totally normal until the driver floors the pedal and the supercharger cuts in. You can hear it slightly at the end of this clip.

In reality it's extremely loud! It's the sound of compressed air screaming through the carbs...

Seen and heard the BRM V16 at goodwood FOS it is truly awesome as said, sounds and smells of cars from this era seem to make you smile
