Why do we always get this? What has someone's ability to construct a sentence got to do with the quality of the car that they are selling?
I agree that txt spk is not right but judging by some cv's I've had through recently, I'm going to have to learn it if I want to employ younger manual labour in the future!

No you don't need to, just reject any CV's which are not correctly written, and tell the applicant why. I recently cancelled a contract with an employment agency because they sent such CV's through.

I think it shows a complete disrespect and disregard for the English language, and if English people can't speak and write it, how do we expect anyone else to respect us, our language, or culture.

Well, I'm surprised that I only got one response to my comment! Although it was a little tongue in cheek, I do think that we come close to being a little overly sanctimonious at times.
Not being able to, or not being willing to, construct a basic advert is not a hanging offence.

Frankly, if the advert gives the impression that the seller is thick, it surely means you have a better chance of getting a bargain off them (?).
With regard to the quality of spelling and grammar on job applications: I have a couple of very able, innovative and useful engineering colleagues who are dyslexic & generally we laugh about it and get on with the job. There are others (one in particular) who hide behind the "dyslexia" umbrella, but are actually thick, useless liabilities, in quite senior (well paid) roles too!

I'm dyslexic but at least I've the sense to run things through a spell checker, especially if its for an advert and there's nothing hard about doing that. He deserves all the slagging he gets for such a lame effort

I type them into word first then paste... use to be very very bad at spelling, got a dispensation for my english exam too and still only scraped through

In this case the ability to communicate in English seems directly proportional to the quality of the car.

Shouldn't think so. Most teachers I hear complaining say that the teachers least likely to correct spelling or grammar are teachers of English.
