Unfortunately, I suspect that if you did know, you'd wish you didn't!

"Lern", should that be "Learn"?

Had a look at that site, it said
"You say it when your team is about to lose, because you got paired with grab-asses. "

So, what does that actually mean? Is it American? Are you American?

Which is your team?

Well, I did ask him a straight forward question, which remains unanswered, then a few more which are also unanswered.

Sorry if it looks to you that it's me that's being unfriendly, seems quite the opposite from where I'm sitting

Im none the wiser for looking them up.

Not just me then, that's good. I wonder why he went all strange about it, when I asked for an explanation?

I found that in his urban dictionary link, but didn't get the context. Why laugh when someone asks a question? It doesn't make sense, (unless avoiding the answer)

DarrenW - 23/10/08 at 11:10 AM

I think you will find that the people who are very conversant with texting and online gaming etc have a good handle on this alternative e-language. I prefer to use what i was taught at school (my choice) so i really struggle with text speak. Its not that im an old codger, only 30 odd, its just that i never got into computers etc.

Benzine is a good egg really, but it wouldnt harm, for the purposes of effective communication, for a little understanding and explanation for those who just dont know.

For an equally balanced and fair-minded view of the Arab-Israeli conflict, readers might also like to check out Leon Uris's novel "The Haj"

I currently have a copy of that novel in my bathroom. It's soft, strong and thoroughly absorbent. Racist propaganda is so much softer on ones bum!

As I said earlier, it's as well balanced and fair minded as the comic you recommended.

The Israelis were there first. It just depends on how far back you want to go.

So before 1948 (when the Arabs and Jewish minority were neighbours and used to babysit each others children) you had a Jewish minority being oppressed with their human rights being thrown out of the window? No. "the israelis were there first" is a very feeble argument. How can you possibly side with zionists?! How can you support the murder, torture & breaking of international laws everyday? How can you support any of these things and still claim to be a rational, intelligent, free-thinking, logical human being?

On the other hand, only 1,050 Palestinian children have been killed by Israelis since September 29, 2000. It's just a bit of fun isnt' it?

I'm not supporting anybody or anything. I personally do not have a position on the Arab Israeli conflict, beyond being able to observe that the two sides each wish the other would disappear off the face of the Earth, and when one or other of them does so disappear then that is when the conflict will be over and not before.

What I will say, though, is that for every piece of propaganda from one side there is a piece available from the other side.

I don't think we should be discussing this sort of politics on LCB, but seeing as the thread has been started it is only fair to point out that there are TWO SIDES to every argument, especially this one.

And to add that, in order to preserve traditional English fair play, until this thread is closed, which I expect it may well soon be, each time anybody posts a piece of Palestinian propaganda then I will post a piece of Israeli propaganda.

Incidentally, if you want to call any part of my argument 'feeble' then it will look a lot better if you somehow justify that point of view rather than simply state it.

John

Palestine by Joe Sacco, a Maltese-American author (a graphic novel, not a comic btw)

Occupation 101, made in America

"Occupation 101 includes interviews with mostly American and Israeli scholars, religious leaders, humanitarian workers, and NGO's critical of the injustices and human rights abuses that stem from Israeli policy in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip."

In conclusion, Naom Chomsky pwns j00!!111

I've had another think about this, and have decided that this is not the right place to have this kind of discussion.

So, Mr Benzine, the floor is yours, fill your boots.

Gotta agree with Mr. H.

This is not the place for this sort of argument.

It's too imflamatory and will only cause trouble.

Save it for a more appropriate forum.

All the best,
James
