As the title really. I want to know whether the front o2 sensor and rear o2 sensor are the same part number. I think I may need one but don't want to buy 2 if they are 1 and the same.

Oops should add it's a 1.2 petrol O3 plate with the df4 (think thats right from memory) engine.

i have a 03 megane and went through a puddle and the electrics went mad wipers going constan etct. i traced the fault to a module on the right next to the battery i took it out and dryed it out all seemed ok after that but now the battery is going flat but not all the time have you seen this problem before or is it time to trade it in

Usually both sensors are the same type but may have different lead lengths and plugs.

Downstream O2 sensor has no control function is only fitted to monitor the performance of the upstream sensor and cat.


In closed loop running the upstream and down stream sensor should give very different readings, the upstream sensor should be continuously changing high to low and back, the downstream sensor should give more or less the same reading continuously. The ECU compares the reading of the upstream and downstream sensors if they are the same too often it flags a fault code indicating either a catalyst fault or a lambda fault.

Both sensors are the same part number and therefore have the same size leads.

I can get you a genuine renault one, the cost price is 87.40 + vat + a couple of quid postage.

Retail is 109.25 + vat.

As regards to the megane, Its more than likely going to be the UPC that you have dried out. It is basically a power distribution unit with a main bus bar fed by the battery. Water is the death of these units - Renault have turned the unit upside down on the later models to try and combat the problem!

I can do you one for cost get it programmed at a discounted rate, but I am based in the midlands so you would need to get the car here!
