Will a 1.8 silvertop Escort water pump fit a phase 3 St170 engine so I can get it turning the right way??

nope, you need either a idler pulley or get a pump from the states, aparently there's some ford out there with the pump running in the correct direction, but not on this side of the ocean

There isn't a suitable donor in the Ford range, Quicksilver racing, in the states, had some made up, some folk on here have had them.

I went with an Idler..

there is one available stock form the states - Mark-Wiring on here knows which car its comes from.
