DS only comes in silver. DS lights come in different colours and are smaller and lighter and have a brighter screen. Games fully compatible and can
link the two remotely. Kids being what they are nowadays ds light is much more populor. If not much dif. in price go for the light. If big dif they
play pretty much the same anyway. (All info supplied by my 11 yr old).
Guess it's a bit like mondeos and jags. If u don't give a sheet what people think and are really tight(like me) get the mondeo (ds)
if not get the jag(ds light)

My boys both have the ds and say its much more durable than the ds lite.
Other than that the lite is suposed to have a bit better screen but that does not matter much if its broken.

Thanks

To confuse things further the DSi is on the way - just after Christmas in the UK (smaller as doesn't have advance cart slot, camera and music
player built in)

Allows you to download ROM files and play them straight off the card, after copying them to a memory card.
I prefer the supercard myself http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5097
