mk4 fiesta diesel

i know this isnt kitcar related but i have aquired a non runner mk4 fiesta diesel

it ran until the last owner lost the keys..

he had a new coded key cut but still doesnt turn over...

if i run a cable direct from battery to starter solenoid it turns over but doesnt fire..

someone told me you need to "teach" the car the new key code...

any help gratefullty received

It the key hasnt go the right transponder code in it then it wont start.

You may need ford wds to code the key in. As far as i know you can only teach the key the cars code if you have 2 other keys or the red master key.

I reckon it needs a trip to fords.

I take it th immobiliser lights goes mad on the dash when u try and start it?

i have a new red key aswell

yes the immobioliser light goes mad for 1 minute then gives code 32....

If the red key doesnt have the same code as the car then u will need the whole lot repragrammed which i reckon must be the case. They do have trouble with the pats module aswell. Without a diagnostic machine its hard to tell.
