Tin Top heating problem
I am driving a 1994 Renault Clio. My heating is not working properly and driving at temperatures close to 2 degrees makes it horrible as i cannot
drive with my jacket or coat on.
My car's temperature is on the low side but still, this should bring in some nice heat in the car.
Question
1) Can this be a water pump problem not circulating the water properly? I think, the flow of the pump has degraded.
2) My radiator has a plastic frame that pushes air to go through the radiator on to the engine compartment which is broken and allows air to travel
around the radiator towards the engine compartment. Could this be the reason for the low engine temp and really cold in the cabin?
3) Heater matrix rusty and hence not working properly?
Any advice much appreciated.

The most common problem that causes this is the water thermostat is failing to close properly, hence the coolant is being over cooled through the
radiator. Buy a new one from Halfords etc and replace it (easy job), they are non serviceable cost about £10. Then you’ll have a nice warm car and
better fuel economy too

(1) Check the coolant leval and make sure it isn't air locked.
(2) If that dosen't work check the heater valve (if fitted) is moving, if you have heater that has constant hot water flow check the air
blending flap is moving.
(3) If that dosen't work change the thermostat
(4) if that dosen't work back flush the heater matric woith a garden hose.

1) Coolant level is spot on as i check it regularly since i am driving 600+miles a week.
2) Air blending flaps are moving perfectly all right as i dismantled the dashboard last year and checked things out.
3) thermostat was replaced last year
4) system was flushed last year as well.
Since then, the car has done about 26K miles and it wasn't working that well last year either. Feels worst now that i live in Gloucester and not
down south.

I did notice that its French and thats not a good thing
Jap cars have very good heaters that you can cook your dinner with or melt the dash
Have you seen the new Renault ads on the telly? Kind of like…’We know you said you’d never get one of our cars but we’re not a rubbish as we use to be
and that last lemon was a one off honest! ‘
Its like something BL would have done after the Allegro

Aany restriction in the matrix and the flow takes the by-pass pipe instead.
Back flush the heater matrix by removing the hoses set the valve fully hot and connect a garden hose to the outlet pipe (one that goes to the water
pump) --
