work routine

So I've been at work since 8, like everyday, and heres my routine:

Load up computer.
Load up systems admin programs.
Load and check work emails.
Do any jobs that have accrued over the evening/morning.

Log in to rushowners.se7ens.net, browse forums
Log in to personal email
Log in to Locost, browse forums
Log into PH, browse forums
Log into TDCIowners, browse forum

Check for any workflow on system.

Log in to rushowners.se7ens.net, browse forums
Log in to personal email
Log in to Locost, browse forums
Log into PH, browse forums
Log into TDCIowners, browse forum

repeat.

Cars and the internet have mostly destroyed my ability to do my job, should I feel guilty?

Only if you work for a public body like the council etc. If it's a private company then carry on doing what you're doing

I hope your boss doesnt come on this forum! We have an initiative here to cut back anything non essential, like the lift has broken and wont be fixed. I also have to justify what Ive been doing every minute of the day. In these times of cutbacks it may be worth looking around to see if there is anything else you could be doing, in addition to what you do now, or if you can come up with any initiative that could help your company. On the other hand I wouldnt feel guilty - if you had decent managers they would be making sure you were busy.

to be honest Mr Whippy, I only log in here so I can pretend I'm taking the picture shown in your avatar.

Imaginary Job schedule:

Get up late.
Pick up hot rod from work.
Collect beautiful model from studio.
Drive to salt flats.
Spend afternoon taking pictures/ogling said car and girl.

and that sir, is what makes you a better person than me.

I'm also a temp, and I've learnt that you should never do a job just for the cashflow. Can't wait to get my RAF application finished and get excited about getting up for work in the morning!

I think I'd be doing more than ogling the girl

Good luck with the RAF thing - We employ quite a lot of ex RAF technician types here - electricians and electronics guys (I work in control systems) and they have all been pretty good, so the trainings decent. They all seem to have had a pretty good time too.
Regards
Hugh
