Chipping a Wii
Anybody got any experience on Chipping a Wii ?
Thinking of ordering a wiikey2 from
"HERE"
Has anybody used one or something similar?
Just want to be able to run backups of our wii discs to stop them getting scratched by the kids wouldn't dream of using it for any other
reason

I read an article just yesterday that said that the Wii's have been re-designed - chipping may break the new models...
But it may be a scare tactic from the makers...

I had a go at chipping my Wii last year.. it had the later revision of drive that needed he newer chips with lots of realy fine solder points around a
chip... ended up knackering up the drive trying to do it :-(
ended up getting a 2nd hand replacement drive off ebay from china, but the drive started to fail after a few months.. grrr ended up selling the Wii as
fault in the end on Ebay... got nearly all my money back selling it on
There are currently other means of running other software around at the moment.
Ive installed "The Homebrew Chanel" on mine.. lets me run emulators, and other apps.. there is even an ISO loader out there in
development.
No hardware mods required... just uses an exploit found in the Zelda game

I've had a chipped Wii for over a year now, all the games work.
Couldn't really give you more info than that as I didn't chip it.
