I went in june. Definately worth a visit. Great place. Not sure about car hire costs as i drove there but food prices arnt too bad. Just remember that
most things over there are (were) about double the prices over here iirc
We (my bro and i) were there for 8 days and spent 1000 pounds on fuel, food and gifts for the family.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Can't discuss Oslo - never been there - but I can tell you that just under 1 pint (500ml) of Carlsberg costs around £5 in Copenhagen!
Mind you - it's lovely stuff, not the muck we get in the UK, and it's 5.5%...
