Is this some kind of scam?

I got an email from car audio company saying i'd bought a stereo, about one hour later I got another email saying the order had been cancelled and to contact them.
I checked the address of the company on google this is ok, the company is registered at company house. But the delivery address for the stereo does not exist and is not my name. I rang visa and switch and no transactions have been tried on my account. I then rang the car audio company (0870 number so not that much of a premium). Audio company said visa had declined the order and the card used ended in 5008 which mine does not. I'm sure this is some kind of a scam but I can't see what as the delivery is not real. Anyone any ideas

Cheers Andy

Can you paste the email headers in? Delete your email address from it.

Usually these emails contain a link which sends you a login page which looks very like the ebay login page. You log in to check on this mysterious transaction and lo and behold it doesn't go to your account.

By this time the bad guys have your ebay username and password

If this happened to you than go into your account and change the password quick!

If you can't get into your account any more it's been hijacked.

Cheers

Mark

I've never had an account with this company, I'm sure it's some kind of a scam but I just can't figure how it works

sooooo much wrong with that delivery address... I've bought from this company many years ago (i think.. maybe it was a different one, but i think it wads this one. i've deffo ordered from this one so it is legit) and they would ONLY deliver to the card billing address.

If Visa say no authorisation attempts have been made then it might just be the computer at that company going bonkers. Even if it's not you're not going to end up paying for it Happy days.

I recently got an e-mail saying my SVA manual was being sent out to me (over 4 years after actually receiving it in the post). I sent an e-mail saying WTF and got a reply saying "whoops... our bad".

Could be worse, it could be your bank writing to say you were 100 billion pounds overdrawn....

Well BN18 is Yapton in Sussex so My guess is that someone has worked out that they could try and scam the Company with lots of fictitious info but there's probably enough correct info in the address for it to stand a chance of going to the scammer

They say they corrected it within the hour, but at 7%, they'll still try and get the £800,000 interest charge
