OT couple of car questions, electrical.
Does anybody know the answer to the following:-
What is the fuse rateing for an electric power steering pump, HPI type. (Froggy Citroen and Puggy)
What does a relay draw, (amps), on the operating side, not the load, (I know that).
Cheers Ray

The one on my MR2 had a 100 Amp fuse IIRC. Certainly around that value anyway, and I would expect the Pug one to be similar.
The current a relay coil will take is determined purely by it's DC resistance. Typically the higher the current rating of the relay contacts,
the, the lower the DC resistance of the coil (and hence more current consumed by coil). A typical 40Amp automotive relay would have a coil resistance
in the region of 85-100 ohms, giving a current of 120-140mA at 12v.

Hi Mike, thanks for the information, bit amazed that the power steering pump draws that much current, Wow! Cheers Ray

It doesn't, or the fuse would blow all the time. Maybe half.

Ah! ha! good point, still quite a heavy load though. Cheers Ray
