SVA Preperation, Any hints ?
Just sent off the SVA application forms, so hopefully will get in before IVA.
Slightly concerned with how to protect all the front suspension edges. Its a Mev Rocket, Got heatshrink around the track rod ends, caps on all the
nuts, but what about the top suspension nut ?
I've seen some that have just wrapped rubber around with cable ties, is this acceptable ?
Any other hints for common failures ?

Regarding the lock nut on the track rod ends. I had bought some large cable glands from an electrical supplier and intended to fit them. My local
tester said if he could still feel the lock nut through the gland he would fail it. Ended up wrapping foam rubber sheet around the gland then sliding
another larger one over it. May well fall off after SVA!!!

i used an old innertube (a thick one probably from a JCB or similar) zip tied in place, passed with no comment from examiner.

Cheers, will go with the idea of covering as much as I can with rubber.
Do the powers that be not realise what a pointless excerise this all is ? If I hit someone at 50 mph, I wouldn't have thought the bare nut,
would add much to the injury.

I cut up some old drysuit sleves, located them with some tape then used large heatshrink over the lot for the top balljoint nut, used Tifosi covers
for the top ball joint itself and electrical glands for the steering arm locknuts.
Doesn't matter what it looks like at this stage as long as its SVA proof

Hay Dogwood I think you need a pressure relieve valve in that suit if you are going to have a large Vindaloo and 14 pints of larger

I used large cable glands on my car for the track rod ends but filled them with silicon before sliding them back over the locknut . Also used a pair
of small plastic bottles which I cut and used to cover the top ball joint lock nut. No mention of them at SVA..
