Rendered Panels

Anyone had any experience with rendered panels? Specifically the difference in cost compared with regular block and render?

Thanks

OH NO! that’s going to look horrid on the side of the car

prob with pre-rendered panels is the number of joints which make the wall look like its made from concrete sections. I’ve used stone chip harling on my garage and house as its quite cost effective but not really DIY and it needs at least a 2 man team. Last house was a painted render finish and was a really dreadful job to paint, took 4 of us a whole day with floor brushes to do and got a blinding headache from staring at the white wall! never using that finish again.

we have just been given planning permission for a corrugated panel building with the condition that it is rendered and slated?!?

Was looking for the cheapest easiest way to have a rendered finish without block building and having to dig footings and move services. Any thoughts chaps

No idea on costs, but the concept of rendering a corrugated building seems odd

What are you thinking - a concrete base and clad timber/steel frame?

If you have been given planning permission then you must have a drawing? What is the wall stated as being made from? Don't personally see any point in using corrugated anything in a rendered and slated building. Is it a new garage?

some clarification needed me thinks

We appllied for planning permission for a timberframe currugated clad building. With a proper drawing and everything.

The application was conditionally approved with the condition being that as it was not in keeping with the surrounding buildings, the finish had to be rendered and with a slated roof. Which kind of precludes a timberframe sheeted construction.

My querry revolves around getting a rendered type finish without having to block build

What about cladding the exterior with shiplapped timber?

Might be more acceptable than corrugated cladding and has to be cheaper/quicker than block and render.

I'd go with that. Use second hand slate or felt. Also a good idea to walk round the local streets and photograph any existing buildings that look like what you want as extra leverage

RENDERING

You could cover the outside with sheetrock material and then spray it with a tyrolean machine. this looks like render when finished.
you can rent the machines from HSS i think.
Edit to say Google HSS Hire go to spray equipement , go to tyrolean rogh cast applicater.
Hope this helps
