I have always used AutoEurope when I've needed to hire a car abroad.
More than often I got a free upgrade and they were MUCH cheaper than going direct to the car hire company (Hertz, Avis etc...)

i used to work for Enterprise Rent -A-Car, you can barter them down over the phone, tell them the quotes youve had off others and they will usually
beat it

The nearest hertz is in dover (about 18 miles away down the A2 ).
the address is 173 -177 Snargate Street, Dover, Kent. Phone is 0044 1304 207303.
Hertz
Dover has a large ferry port and there are a few other rental places there.
There are quite a few car rental places in Canterbury but they are spread out a bit. Any idea whereabouts you will be in Canterbury? Would it be
easier to rent a car at the airport (assuming you are arriving in UK by air)?

Arrive Heathrow 10 April. Train to C'bury. Plan to just drive around visiting, avoiding accidents. Only there a week. There appear to be some
nice apartments you can rent in the area.

The only national company that has an office in canterbury is Enterprise,
There is a company based at the East railway station called S & B depends which station you arrive at. Otherwise look at hertz using their
delivery service.
I will find the details for s&b for you.
