What is this advert selling ?
Just had a blazing row with Maplins
Ordered one of these online from Maplins.
It arrived today in a very small envelope.
So, I know it says £3.49, but based on the description and the title of the page, what should I have expected ?
Should I have expected a laptop PSU to arrive ?

I "thought" it was a splendidly cheap laptop PS.
After reading the small print (only cos it was obvious from you post something was up) it does say "tip" in the description, but AFAICS
that's the only clue... 
Letter to head-office time (get a screen grab first) ?

I got a tip for a laptop psu.
The girl on the phone made the mistake of deciding to cut right across me and put me straight.
Clearly, this was not going to happen, so she got both barrels.
I know call centre staff have a tough life, but it's mabe best not to basically call customers idiots.
Will send them a letter.

Hi, I would think about contacting trading standards about this as I have read the page and as far as I can see it is a psu that you order with the
tip you desire.
Then product discription says

I would contact maplin asking for the rest of the parts listed in the disciption.

Very misleading, it does make it look like you are ordering a power supply and choosing the tip size you want with it. Keep up the pressure.

you are entirely correct John, a diabolically misleading advert:
"Supplied with AC mains input cord and cable tidy strap "
Or not, as the case may be.
Im tempted to order one on my credit card and kick up a stink too.
I'm tempted to think that that advert WAS written for the full thing and some numpty has uploaded it wrongly. There's no way they could
have it that wrong by accident.

They've advertised the psu for that price so they must sell it for that price.
If I were you I'd be copying that page to your hard drive so that you have something to go buy when they change the advert.
Taking into account that it says with clear and easy to read display etc I'd say they've definately dropped one on this...

Get a screen capture before it's taken down. I'd have expected the whole shebang as well.
from what you've got it's more like a shoddy ebay scam type advert when your not bidding on what you think you are.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

It gives dimensions which if you checked carefully would raise questions, but I think from title and picture they're trying to be deliberately
misleading!
Threaten them with trading standards....

Actually thats not true - any retailer has the right to refuse to serve you and sell an item, even if it was been wrongly priced.
Still - as above - i'd definately contact Trading Standards as the advert is very misleading and they may view it as misrepresenting the item
actually for sale. I think all that will happen is they will change the advert but you may get the item as a "gesture of goodwill"
