Is stainless the same to weld as mild steel?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

If it's MIG, I think you need expensive stainless wire

You can weld SS with normal mild steel wire and gas and it will work fine - but the weld will go rusty over time.
Using the Stainless wire will of course solve this (I think you need 100% argon gas as well?), but I understand, although I've never tried, that
it's more tricky to get a good weld than with mild steel wire?

Could get it from Merlin (they do both mild and stainless)

But as a first try I'd wander along to an exhaust fitter at a quiet time and see if you can buy a section for beer money. Small independent
might give better luck than a big chain.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I do that. Theyl usually give u it for a drink.
Motor factors will do you a length of mild pipe. Mines does it for about 12 quid for 2 metres.
