Dyson parts??

I know its a long shot, but the power of locostbuilders sometimes pops up a gem of info!!:-

Our Dyson DC20 animal with the rotating brushes stopped rotating. I took it apart and the spline of the turbine had stripped, so i glued it back on. But now it doesn't rotate fast enough and the carpet stops it. after messing with the spacing of the turbine, i've come to the conclusion that the turbine should slide up and down on the spline so it gets exactly the right amount of air flowing through it spin at high speed and with enough force not to stop when on the carpet.

Anyway, i don;t want to pay 40 quid for a new head as it will only happen again (the mini head has done exactly the same), so was wondering if anyone on here knows where to get individual spare parts, i.e. just the turbine.

I would think if Dyson don't sell them then they probably aren't available. It's probably the most expensive part of the head.

I thought Dysons had lifetime warranty and were indestructibubble - well, acording to Dyson's book - otherwise how else do they justify the price.

contact Dyson and give them an earful.

bloody hell, just called them with the serial number and they are sending a replacement head out, no questions asked!!! I've even lost the purchase receipt, all they said is that the guarantee runs from the date of manufacture, which was only a few months before we bought it anyway!!!

Top marks to Dyson customer service!!!

By giving this sort of customer service, and providing products that work well.

After 6 or 7 years of sterling service our original DC01 succumbed to the daily abuse we put it through. With the motor gently smoking, we decided to get a new one, but went for an Electrolux bagless at about half the price of a Dyson, but I wish I'd spent the extra now, or even repaired the old clunker. It's noisier, heavier and simply doesn't work as well.
