grrr
was really enthusiastic last week, things were coming along good, really happy with the way the car was working out.
went out there today, took one look at the engine and thought its really not working out and don't know what to do...
alternator gets in the way of the steering collumn, and the intake manifold. so much work to do, and i really don't know what i'm doing.

Sounds the same as me. I go through this a lot and especially yesterday when everything I touched went wrong. (I took it out on one of the several
bushes in the garden, which is now in the bin!) Take a day or two off and what works for me is I have some DVD's on American Hotrod and American
Chopper where they build from scratch and look at what they're overcoming and that winds me up into going again.
During Summer going to one of the shows get's me thinking again and I try and do loads after coming back before I tire of it all again and start
thinking it's useless.
Keep going mate, I know I've said to you before but it's looking good, it's something different from the norm so it's not
going to be straight forward. Take your time and battle it in stages.

Dont worry, we have ALL been there !!
i dont remember the specific days in the build, but there were loads of them, days that anything and evrything went wrong
and the best advice, for those days is close the garage up, go inside, and carefully plan your next mission, with a nice cup of tea, perhaps even mow
the lawn
I had a list written down, and on some days when it was all going pete tong, i would find the least intresing job on there
and do it from start to finish
The whole part of this ridiculas farce, is at the end of it, you have a car that will NEVER be finished, so why worry
and i really do mean never finish, as i doubt very very much, there is not one person out there who will put their money in, and say MY CAR IS
FINISHED
Yes its on the road, but finished ???
never

cheers guys
i know it'll pass, but there's so much work involved in the engine, and i'm still having trouble with the back axle too. I'm
wondering if i should find someone near by who can sort my engine for me. I'm happy enough doing the electrics and plumbing, but i'm at a
compllete loss with the intake.
need to make a new manifold, possible respace of the cars, and find a smaller alternator and/or make a smaller bracket for it.

Why not just dog leg the steering shaft with an extra UJ, saves lots of work, just use a rose joint as a support bearing?

beleive me, that would be a LOT more work. there's a lot of spare metal on the alternator bracket. i guess i could file away some of that.
i'm sure it doesn't need to be 3/4" thick
