Car performance

Ever wondered what the performance of your car is, do you have a mobile phone with GPS?

Just downloaded an application to my Nokia 5800 calleed GTx by Tempes which allows you to do this. Can be configured to measure different things like 0-60, 40-60, 1/4 mile etc.

Of course I do not condone speeding or dangerous driving on public roads.

Isn't there a delay of a good second or so on gps devices? Always seems to lag a bit behind where you actually are.

They're not pinpoint accurate for positioning. Not sure what the tolerance is either. It'd be OK for a ballpark figure but then again so would a stopwatch.........

I beleive its approx +-10m, the US military only allow this level of accuracy, whereas they have it to within a metre.

Or so I read, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Other option if you've got an Ipod / Iphone is the rolling road app for it (whose name I've forgotten...).

Works off the accelerometers. Pretty accurate for 0-60mph, 1/4 miles etc.

Oh yes, that's it- dynolicious.

Unfortunately I can't get it as I've only got an Ipod so would have to update the Ipod software which costs.... and which I refuse to do
