yes, that explains it quite well, but i still havent seen exactly which part it is that was supposedly illegal, is it the two black fins coming out the side of where the rain light is?

Reading the article - I think that you are right, because the entire "diffuser" shape below appears to be in one piece even though it is shaped multi-levels. On top of that, the article does say that the lower "diffuser" simply exists in the plain of the airflow. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't "feeding" the upper diffuser design a little more than Mike intimates, because it would appear an easy thing for them to accomplish and capitolise on. For eg. years ago, when diffusers began to be more main stream, the first thoughts were that they actually fed the main rear spoilers of an F1 car. Obviously we know nowadays that they accomplish a great deal on their own!
