I saw that.

Thought it was a bit odd. How are they going to catch bikes?

made me laugh saying the officers are at risk in bad weather???
fair weather riders then???

with the training & the kit they have i think that statement is cow dung ( bull $hi??).
its just another way to cut costs but blame it on anything but the real reason for it,

Northumbria Police has said it will scrap its motorcycle unit on health and safety grounds.

So are we going to disband the armed forces on H&S too?

it,ll be lollipop ladies/man next , not very H&S stepping into a road is it???
i,m not knocking the police riders, they do a good job, more so when we need them in an emergency, i just think its waffle by goverment/top brass to save money, it almost makes out that the police riders are not very good riders in bad weather , which i,m sure they are,
they should keep the motorcycle unit & put the cost on an MP,s expenses

This will be after a risk assesment that will undoubtedly have to conclude that bikers are at more risk than a car driver. In that case someone has panicked and here we are, when business and the police allow h&s to run them it is beyond a joke.

There's also the health risk due to the continual high noise levels - I was told by a senior police bike instructor that loss of hearing is a big problem for police bikers. Amongst other things, it's the wind noise, sirens and high-volume police radio that do the damage. Earplugs do reduce the risk, but they introduce their own problems if worn all day, every day (risk of ear infections).

Does anyone use any of those bikes as donors?

To be honest I don't even know what they use
Title was a bit tongue in cheek, but no reason why you couldn't use one, this is the place that could make it work.
