China is my generation's sleeping giant. If North Korea continue to play this escalatory game then they going to wake that giant up. Then I don't care if 25%+ of their people and their GDP goes into the military - China will crush them like a bug.

Ideally America and Western Europe need to keep their noses out, otherwise they'll make a mess.

America and Western Europe should keep their noses out of most things, but they don't seem capable of doing so

Might be quite interesting to see (from afar) China get their toys out and flex some muscle.

One things for sure - just like your mum and dad always told you - "It'll end in tears"

Far better that China deals with its neighbour than we do, or the Americans, Its just that China doesn't seem to want to.

North Korea is like a 2 year old child having tantrums. You just can't nuke them for it, you just have to put them on the naughty step for a while and hope they grow out of it. When I was a kid, the standard treatment was to give the kid something to cry about but even that didn't stop the tears.

The country is ruled by an idiot. He spends millions on cars and toys while the people starve. I think assassinating the dictator would help.

Then get a western friendly replacement to take his place. Then blame the murder on a 3rd party.

The sell the rights for a new Bourne Movie.

Trouble is, Kim whatstisbadger is on his last legs, and mad as a hatter - what's he got to lose starting a nuclear war - he'll be dead soon anyway. This could all go very t1ts up!

So let me try and understand this...

We followed the US into Iraq on the 'assumption' they had WMD. Kicked the sh*t out of the dirt-poor country, even after it was established they did not have WMD.

We followed the US into Afghanistan because that's where Al Quada come from. Kicked the sh*t out of the dirt-poor country even though it was plain for all to see that our super-rich buddies in Saudi Arabia played a stronger hand in the operation of those nasty Al Quada baddies!

Now we have North Korea... no assumptions to be made about their efforts to produce WMD - heck, they're rubbing our noses in the fact that they have nuclear capablities and are actively conducting tests!

When do we follow the US into North Korea to kick the sh*t out of them? Oh, that's right... they won't, so we won't!

Absolutely f***ing pathetic!

im not condoning afganistan and iraq but if war kicks off with N.Korea then thousands upon thousands will die, it would be far from the "clean war" america strives for.

Nukes wont reach us, but they will reach S.Korea. Too many lives hang in the balance.

The problem is I think N.Korea is starting to believe its own orwellian BS and thinks its a superpower. I've only just read that they have abandoned their truce with south korea. I hope they realise this game that they have started will be finished for good by a real super power if they continue the escalation.

North Korea are playing power games - they want the world to be scared and treat them with some respect. They feel small and powerless but feel they deserve better - they won't get anything but sanctions and contempt from the international community.

That's just going to provoke them further.

Fortunately that Nuke is probably quite crude and probably too big to fit on top of the missiles they've been testing. So at the moment they don't warrant invasion.

More talking and sanctions - then let's see if we can't talk them out of refining this weapon of theirs.

Don't think for a second that I'm pro-war! I think that we should have kept our noses out of many things that have happened rececently.

I just think the 'West' is so pathetic with all it's knee-jerk muscle-flexing and chest-beating by spanking the 'little-boys nations' without a seconds thought, but pussy-footing when there are real issues.

North Koreans deserve to be free of this ridiculous dictatorship, just as Zimbabwe did, etc, etc, etc.

Face the 'West' with a tough-nut though, and they (relatively speaking) bottle it!

Edmund Burke's oft-quoted phrase: ‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’ should be a given!
