I've often considered driving this route but after watching a few clips on youtube, the single track road with passing places puts me off. If
it's busy, then chances are there'll be a lot of stop/starts. Is the majority of this route single track?
I prefer twisty roads with some long sweeping fast bends

It's blimmin awesome on a bike, both over the Pass of Cattle and the road north out of Applecross! You spend more time airbourne than on the
tarmac!
Just watch out for camper vans....
Spin 'er off Well...

Some single track but what a feat of road building.
If you go first thing you get a good run up the hill. Some of it is like Donne hill climb just a lot lot longer. Met a caterham on the way down hired
from Andrew at www.openroadhire.co.uk
Plenty sweeping fast bends on the way up to skye and Kinlochewe is a fab road towards Dingwall and Strathpeffer.
One of the best roads we did was the Aviemore road up to the ski lifts 8 miles of just heaven......no other cars just us and a smooth run to the
sky...
