What silencer do I actually need/want?
Not sure where to go with this one....
The TVR has a nice(ish) large bore set of headers on the engine... but the pipe from the headers to the back of the car is restrictive with two
indirect silencers....
The same 2 silencers and pipe were used on the 1.6 version of the car...
Now given I have a 2.5 6Cyl engine... I feel it should make a little bit more noise at the back when I floor it...its a TVR afterall...
Loosing the restriction of the indirect cans would help too..
But the question is... How do I work out what volume and design of silencer I actually want to use?
Ideally I would have an electic flap to divert the exhaust through the boxes, or straight out.... but thats far to complex...
any thoughts?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I seem to recall that these sort of things were available years ago. I remember seeing them advertised in Custom Car and Street Machine magazines.
They weren't electric but cable operated. Don't know if this type of thing is still available somewhere.

Paul (907) will make you any silencer(s) you want, and any size / bore, and all in stainless.
I can vouch for the quality of his workmanship. Drop him a U-U.

New jag xk has a system like that. Might be worth trying to find some info on that system.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Still appears to be quite popular in the USA. See above for some inspiration / ideas.

Maserati have one of those exhaust flap thingies on their cars too.
Don't know too many Masser breakers though!
