Bonnet respray.
Someone decided to key the bonnet on my Focus last night with the number 216 in nice big scratches(??), must have seemed a good idea to them when
they did it.
While it is just the family runabout it will need to be fixed. Any idea on best option without spending too much. I could probably prep and prime but
suspect using rattle cans for the top coats would be too tricky. How much do you think a respray would be?
In the mean time I think I'll have to get my boy to sit with the air rifle at the window just in case they come back...
"Shall I take out their left or right bollock Dad?"
Is 9 under the age they send them to prison?

Prob. worth talking to a local dent specialist eg Chips Away etc.
Don't know what they currently charge but they normally do an excellent job and it's not really worthwhile fiddling about trying to DIY
it.
Cheers, Pewe

Colour matched rattle can from my local paint supplier is £11.50 with a theoretical coverage (2-3 coats) of 1 square metre. 2 cans should do it, plus
primer and clear coat.
Chips away don't spray panels.
A local body shop might do it quite cheaply, especially if you do a lot of the prep work.
A replacement from a scrapper might be cheap and easy, so long as you can get the same colour.

i sprayed a mates bonnet with my compressor, paint was about 250ml, same in primers, and a few packets of wet and dry. cost about £15 all in.
that wasn't metallic though, so we didn't do a clear coat

I would do the prepwork and get a local workshop to do the rest also. Youre garunteed a decent job that way

Decent bodyshop wouldn't guarantee a good finish unless they did the prep, if they'd touch it at all.

Cheers chaps.
Called local breakers and they have a mint bonnet in the right colour for £70 so might see if that is a decent match...might even stick mine on Ebay
and get a few quid back.
Bast@rds did 6 other cars, looks like I came off light...a "07" Mini had two scratches from front to back down to the metal!

We have had some "I have done the prep for you" jobs and they where really bad and we ended up turning a few of them away. The quality in
paintwork is how well the prepwork has been done.
