NASCAR Florida
I fancy going to the good ole US of A next year and watching some Nascar ,one of the things on my bucket list.
The question is what kind of a trip is it from tourist central Florida down to Miami( I want to do NASA and some others whilst im there)
and whats the weather like in October or November.
I know I could look up figures on web sites but Im interested to see if any one has personal experiences of the kind of trip i'm talking about
.
Thanks
Lurch

i went to florida last year and the first 3 days we drove from orlando to miama via Naples and back to orlando, stopping at the aligator farm and
going on one of the swampy air boat type things which was great fun. Naples was very nice, we stayed there overnight before going down to miami,
which i thought was a hole, although i was only there for 1 day before driving back up the other side of florida which we did in one day.
It would be a long day to drive all the way to miami and driving there is incredibly boring, some of the roads are so straight its actually hard to
see if there is anything coming the other way due to the empty horizon. They are hot on speeding so 60 mph all that way is not my idea of fun hence
we took it easy and stopped of at a few places.
Hint: get a sat nav.

Any particular reason for wanting to go down to Miami?? If you are going to be based in Orlando, then personally i'd be looking to go to Daytona
myself. Thats only 50 miles away from Orlando.
Daytona International Speedway
The Daytona 500 would definately be on my bucket list!!!
Edit - unfortunately - the Daytona 500 is 14th Feb 2010!!
Daytona 500
Another bonus is it isnt that far down to Kenedy Space Centre along the coast from Daytona. Now if you could get Nascar and a launch into one
trip...................

I've also done the orlando to naples drive in a hire car, spent a week at orlando and a week at naples.
When we arrived, we arranged a bus to take us to NASA and had a day there aswell.
Weather in october/november is perfect if you ask me. Pretty warm and from experience not much rain.

Coke Zero 400 race is start of July this year and likely to be similar next year. May be worth trying to find out more on the Daytona race dates for
next year and plan around that
