DVLA Idiots
the agency everyone loves to hate...
This time not kit car related..
They have decided to issue me with a fine for non-payment of car tax.
All they way back in march filled out form V14 (refund of vehicle tax) and ticked the box to declare SORN and put the date one - 19th march
I received the refund of the road tax and thought nothing of it
now they have given me the £80 fine and charged £31.25 for arrears duty.
I am outraged, really really sodding annoyed.
They are fining me because of their administrative balls up!
Anything I should try?? i'm going to write a letter to them but I highly doubt that it is going to get anywhere as that requires that the
cretins they employ are literate and have a basic grasp of the english language
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but its sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again, the sun is the same in a relative way but
your older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death

I'd put in a counter-claim via their compensation scheme (for the fine, the arrears duty and a little bit extra for your time wasted). If it
appears you're going to take their money most companies pay attention, whilst their customer services departments are usually just designed to
fob people off....

Don't get me started!
They once sent me a fine for not having a tax disc. Even though I'd bought one from them, on line, it had been delivered and I was displaying
it at the time.
Apparently it was "impossible" for them to make a mistake! As I lived less than 200 yards from the local DVLA office at the time, I sent
them a letter with a photocopy of the tax disc, a photo of it displayed in the front of the car and an nvitation to come round for a cuppa tea and
have a look for themselves.......
Rude buggers never showed up!

I had a fine issued to me as I forgot to SORN SWMBO car, I phoned them up and explained that I had been involved with my daughters wedding and totally
forgot about it, they cancelled the fine on the spot and sorned the car by phone. Nice service.

Bob,
Does it help if you live in the land of the DVLA?
Or is this just a coincidence.

Their perfect system managed to remove my name from being the registered owner! I asked what had happened and they said it had gone to
"trade". So how does that happen and which trade/garage as I still had the V5 intact? No explanation just that the mistake had been
rectified.

I have a problem with a refund a couple of months ago, they claimed I wasn't the registered keeper or ever had been.
Quick phone call to them revealed that on the V5 my name was hyphenated but who ever entered the refund details on the computer missed off the hyphen.
Hence computer said no.
Guy on phone corrected it and refund came a few days later
