I just came 7th overall in a round of the British Sprint Championship!!
:-D
Seriously!
There were 2 rounds of the British Sprint Championship at Kirkistown yesterday and today. Great turn out yesterday (it was part of the NI
championship), today's was not and was quite poorly attended (14 odd entrants I reckon). I was the only entrant in class 9, and came 7th
overall!! I even had my 2 runs in the British Championship run off event!
Got a nice wee crystal tankard (1st in class), and Nick Algar with his McLaren-Nicholson engined Gould GR55 3.5, only put 36 seconds on me in 1.8 laps
:-D
He unofficially did a flying lap of the full circuit in 50.55, my best is around 1:08, and the blade BEC 7 racing guys are down to 1:05.
Great days crack, and I have a sunburnt face that looks like a side of bacon, with a smile!!
Cheers
Ali

And I should mention they guys from yesterday - Clive Heak (NI, Locost non-road going Busa) made the top ten run off yesterday against WAY stiffer
opposition, and my very good mate Sean McGoldrick who came about 20th overall (and stuffed me!) in a Locost blade, again, against much stronger
oposition.
Well done the Locost contingent.
And yep, I'm still grinning like a loon!

Well done fella, some feeling, need to get building a bit quicker to get out and give you a hard time (not)
UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

To be fair, Richard Young said it was the first sprint he'd seen where almost everyone one who entered won a prize!!
Davey, good to hear from you, how are you? How's the car coming along?

Well done
I got a couple of pots in sprints and hill climbs in my pinto indy - when the fast guys didn't turn up
1st rule of competition you've got to be in it to win it.....
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

Yep, if anyone knows anyone entering the 2010 British Sprint Championship you can let them know there are points on offer over here for the price of a
ferry journey! And I do not even get paid by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board!!
Yet!
I *prefer* to think that I was one of the only fast ones to turn up, but realistically you're right!!
:-D
Still, I was only beaten by 4 single seaters, a RWD Peugot 205 with a big ol' Cosworth engine and an (alledged) 444BHP Audi RS road car (driven
by British Championship competitor Simon Bainbridge). He beat me by .13 of a sec and I missed a gear on my last run :-(. It went like stink up the
long Kirkistown straights that were run on Sunday.
Watching the Gould pulling well over 150 up the back straight, the downforce sucking it onto the track so hard, the back end was grounding out and
sending up showers of sparks. Just an amazing spectical.
Cheers
