Duratec oil light problem
I have got a slight problem! I have a 2001 mondeo with a 2ltr duratec engine, on my way home from work my oil light came on i stopped asap got out
checked my oil level and it was between the min and max on the dipstick, so i carried on carefully but had to over take a tractor and i noticed as i
reved it a bit the lighht went out (over about 2.5k - 3k revs) and if i keep the revs up the light stayed out but as soon as the revs dropped it came
back on! Anyone have any ideas?

Could be a faulty oil light pressure switch, OR, it could be an oil pressure problem. I would recommend that you get it checked immediately, best way
would be to get a proper oil pressure guage put on to the engine to see what is happening. The ONLY way to be sure.

Its on the filter housing. Right at the bottom of the engine on the passenger side toward the back.
Duratecs do have issues spinning up big ends, but you should be able to hear that if they are bad enough for the oil light to come on. On the other
hand it could just be a faulty sender or connection.

Check the pressure with a proper oil pressure gauge before doing anything else.
