Any boiler fixers on here?
Hi chaps.
Anyone on here who fixes boilers? I have a vokera mynute 20 70 se and its not working.
I ran through the diagnostics and found the safety thermostat was gone. No big deal as it was 7 quid. Fixed it a few days ago.
It worked for a while but the boiler would only burn for 10 minutes max. Yesterday it burned for about four and now it wont come on at all. I have
been running through the diagnostics again and am now looking at the ignition control box or the pressure differential switch or the gas valve
solenoids.
The book says do you get 240v at various wires in the icb. I am getting about 100v. There is 240 coming into the boiler.
I am sort of stuck now. There is a warning sticker in the boiler saying all wires are 240v so does the fact that I am seeing 100v on the icb mean it
is done or is there something else it could be?
Any help greatly received.

Be careful. I'm not sure it's legal for you to work on a gas appliance if you are not Gas Safe registered.
Whether that would still apply if you don't touch the gas bit and only work on the electrical side I don't know.
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

You're not allowed to work on anyone elses boiler if you're not CORGI, though you can work on your own boiler if you're
"competent".
"Competent" is something that would be debated in court if you blew anything up!

I don't think there would be any debate, by the time you've blown a house up the decisions already been made if you're competent or
incompetent

Have you got the full boiler manual, if not its worth downloading it.
If you follow the wiring or P.C.B diagrams in the manual or on the back of the P.C.B or it might even be on the back of the case.
A feed usually comes out of the P.C.B and then around all of the safety devices, such as a Water pressure switch, High limit thermostat, Fan Air
switch, Pump flow switch, and then returns to the P.C.B to say everything is ok and to try and continue and light.
Try and follow this feed and see where it stops or where there voltage reduces to 110 and thats where the problem is.
If it gets as far as the fan running it could well be the air switch has either failed or the differential pipe or nozzles for them have become
blocked, you can turn the electric off completely and test these for continuity by blowing and sucking on the pipes and see if they changeover.
Failing that the P.C.B is most likely shot!
