Insruance.. a logstics question
I asked this on another car forum as well... but figure the responses on here might be a little more helpful
In order to insure my new car I have to have 2 years NCB....
I have 1 years NCB at the moment, but as soon as my current policy is complete I then have the required 2 years NCB...
The official end date on the policy is 02/09/08
I want to stay with my current insurer because their online quote system gives me the best quote for the car if I have 2 years NCB...
However, is there any way that I could "add" this new car a few weeks early to the policy before the current one actually ends and then
keep it running for another year?
Basically... what is the soonest I would legally be able to insure the new car?....
I know you can renew a policy up to a month before the end date... so can I sort it out this weekend or do I have to wait ? frown

i think the best thing to do is ring your insurer and talk to them.
am i understanding you correctly in that fact that you want to insure your new car with your 2 yrs NCB and then NOT renew your policy on the old car
(the one that is currently insured) or do you want to continue to insure your current car as well.
you could always tell the that you want your new policy on your new car to start on the 03/09/09 that way its after your renewel date and you will
then have collected your 2 yrs NCB <-- i think this is the way the insurer will see it

Yes... replacing old car with new one....
But ideally I want to start driving the new one yesterday...
However... I dont have the pre-requisite 2YNCB until the current policy ends.... hmmmm

ring your insurer and tell then that you want to start a new policy on the car but your a month away from renewel, you never know they may let you
start a new policy and give you 2 yrs NCB,
mind you i just took a new policy with tesco and they gave me an 3 years NCB for free!!! so next year i will have 4 yrs NCB, woop, considering i have
been driving as a named driver for 7 years and previously had no NCB, it was pretty good and my premium was only £317

last time i bought a new car, my insurance let me add my old car to the new policy (yeah, i know its the other way round to what you need) so i could
still drive it while i sold it. think it was for 10 days at a time or something.
so a bit different, but i think what you need should be possible, so phone them and find out

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Different Insurers have different policys.
But basically you should be able to phne up and do change of Vehicle which will put the new car on the old policy till it ends. If you old car is
3rd party and the new car needs to be fully comp they may offer you a deal provide you stay with them... Phone and see.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Might be simpler to go for short term insurance on the new car until the policy runs out? Herts do a scheme, although it looks like they're
just reselling someone else and taking a kick back, so might be worth doing some digging and contacting direct.
