What cheap hardtop winter fun car do you suggest?
Right, the MNR is almost finished (famous last words, I know...). I can use it from March till October. What should I drive in the remaining months or
rain and snow when I want to drive a unique, fun car?
What would you suggest as a cheap (below 2.000 pounds), hard top interesting car that I wouldn't mind taking out in the rain?
I was thinking MGB GT first because I like them, but it would probably rot to pieces after the first season...
Or an old Land Rover maybe? That sounds better, but are they a safe bet at this price and age range...?
Or some sort of hardtop race car? Also tempting...
Basically I can use the same number plate for the MNR and another car, so it doesn't even have to be road legal, but of course needs to have
lights, etc... plus it should be fairly reliable as well...
And I do have a family car that I can use, but was thinking of some cheap tintop toy...
Any crazy ideas?

How about buying one of my cars... 
Either a polo GTI 16V VVT 1.6...
Or a TVR 2500M 2.5L straight six

How does using the same registration number on 2 different cars work then...?
Could be handy for road tax and insurance purposes

i have no idea, but i think thats basically it. australians insurance is paid for with the registration plate. wonder of its the same in hungary?
since you can only be driving 1 car at a time anyway...
in switzerland your number plate stays with you for ever doesn't it?

Regsitration plate: Normally the plates+insurance are for the car, but there is a plate variety where the insurance is paid for the plate, and the
plate is transferable... Since it is paid for the year, I could use another car in the winter for the same cost as just running the MNR in the summer
months...
Lada: well, not my cup of tea... we waited decades to get rid of them, why would I want one... besides, these are not exactly unique here...
tegwin: your TVR would be fine, were it 2000 pounds max...
MR2, MX5, 200SX - maybe... I will have a look...
Jag XJS - that's a great car, I agree... But is it not a complete bottomless pit to throw money in?
I quite like the idea of a Landy because it definitely qualifies for a winter car. Snow? No problems...

MK1 MR2, you can get a mint one with a lot of history for about £1600.
Someone was selling a lovely looking one on here not so long ago too!

unless your very lucky or a good bofger then yes, an XJS will likely be a bottomless pit and probably won't ever apreciate. Mk2 XJ6's are
meant to be pretty bullet proof, especially the X300 model, My dad bought one to do wedings in and its quite an experience to drive. again an XJ will
never make money but they are fun.
